Oil on canvas 30 x 20 inches (about 76 x 50.5 centimeters)
Inspired by a photo by ~Triodante, it made me think of a deserted ruined city, where almost all the people who lived there are long gone.
In my painting the ruins are hidden in a hazy fog, a once bustling city is reduced to crumbling buildings. Who knows what secrets are hidden within. Perhaps the lantern hung up high alludes to something.
This kind of imagery is often in fantasy novels. One that came to mind was the ancient ruined city on the dying world Charn in the book 'The Magician's Nephew' by C. S. Lewis.
Wonderful work! I love the fog and the contrast between the different grey shades.
Just gave me back my inspiration for my story's atmosphere
