your work just astounds me. Seriously....you have a gift!
honestly I think the composition would look better without the tree with no leafs. But nice job.

the orange and blue scheme... make me indescribably happy... ^_^
actually i think the tree is what makes the painting.

that was my honest opinion. That tree's form looks a little strange the branches don't look natural, they don't have a 3dimensional effect and look flat.. and it takes away all my attention from everything. When I just saw this painting, that tree hit me in the eye. I honestly think the painting would look more calm without that tree, the tree looks cut out from everything else and I just see it in the way of the composition.

great job! (though I would love to paint...I have no knowledge of painting...what exactly is varnish?)
ok this is an australian landscape with an australian tree. that's how it actually looks when the sun is setting. maybe it doesn't look '3D' enough for you in the photo but it does in real life. BUT it's supposed to have a silhouette look. I'm not going for a "calm" look, there is deeper meaning with the sunset and the dead tree. So sorry if it doesn't conform to your ideas about composition.

I don't see the point of criticising someone's FINISHED work like that. They are hardly going to change the work because someone doesn't like how something is. The critiquing is simply your point of view and not beneficial. Sometimes it better to keep things to yourself.
